DESCRIPTION:
Inspired by Grand Soir by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Noblesse opens with a deep amber glow, warm, resinous, and impossibly smooth. Labdanum and benzoin create a golden richness through the heart, softened by tonka and vanilla that melt into the skin like evening light across polished marble. It feels grand without shouting, elegant without needing permission, the scent of velvet rooms, late arrivals, and wealth that never explains itself.

Top: Labdanum, Lavandin, Cinnamon Leaf

Middle: Benzoin, Amber Accord

Base: Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Musk

Maceration is the quiet part of perfumery most brands skip. It’s the period after blending, where fragrance oils and alcohol are left to rest, bond, and mature - allowing the scent to fully develop its depth, balance, and longevity.

At Larcin, every batch is macerated for 3–4 weeks before it’s ever allowed to sell. No rushing. No shortcuts. This time is essential: harsh edges soften, notes settle into each other, and the fragrance becomes what it’s meant to be on skin.

Noblesse: Inspired by Grand Soir by Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Noblesse is Larcin's interpretation of Grand Soir, widely regarded as one of the finest amber fragrances ever composed. It follows the same golden structure: labdanum, lavandin and cinnamon leaf in the opening, benzoin and a rich amber accord through the heart, and vanilla, tonka bean and musk in the base. This guide covers the fragrance's Parisian inspiration, its glowing character, its famous performance and how Noblesse compares.

The Story of Grand Soir: Paris After Dark

In 2016, master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the nose behind Baccarat Rouge 540 and now perfume creation director at Dior, released a duo dedicated to his home city as the city of light. Petit Matin captured Paris at dawn; Grand Soir captured the grand evening, when bridges and monuments glow golden against a twilight sky. Kurkdjian built that glow from three materials treated with obsessive care: cistus labdanum from Spain for smoky darkness, benzoin from Siam for balsamic warmth, and tonka bean from Brazil for soft vanilla sweetness. The result became a modern amber benchmark, adored by the fragrance community and routinely named among the best evening fragrances money can buy.

What Does Grand Soir Smell Like?

Grand Soir smells like candlelight made wearable. It opens with resinous amber immediately, deep and burnished, with labdanum lending a faintly smoky, leathery darkness and a whisper of lavender and cinnamon keeping the top from turning syrupy. As it settles, benzoin and vanilla build a creamy, honeyed warmth that many compare to polished wood, old libraries and expensive evening wear. It is sweet but composed, powerful but never loud, and completely unisex. Wearers consistently describe it the same way: elegant, mysterious and quietly magnetic, formal attire in scent form.

The Longevity and Projection of Grand Soir

Grand Soir is one of the great performers in luxury perfumery, routinely delivering ten to twelve hours on skin with a warm, room-filling aura in the early hours before settling into a golden personal glow. Its amber trail survives on coats and scarves for days, which in winter feels less like a flaw and more like a gift.

The Luxury Positioning of Grand Soir

Grand Soir retails around $378 for a 70ml bottle in Australia, with prices climbing steadily year on year. Beyond the superb formula, you are paying for the Kurkdjian name, the LVMH-backed house and the prestige that comes with owning work by the most celebrated perfumer of his generation.

Noblesse: A Faithful Grand Soir Alternative

Noblesse recreates the golden hour in full. Labdanum, lavandin and cinnamon leaf open with that smoky-aromatic glow, benzoin and amber build the honeyed heart, and vanilla, tonka bean and musk carry the long, luminous drydown. The character survives faithfully: rich, resinous warmth with impeccable manners, the scent of a beautiful evening that refuses to end. If Grand Soir is the amber you keep returning to sniff at the counter, Noblesse lets you actually wear it on ordinary nights.

When to Wear Noblesse

Noblesse belongs to autumn and winter evenings: dinners, dates, events and any night out where warmth and polish matter. It makes a superb Melbourne winter signature and doubles beautifully as a cosy stay-home comfort scent. Completely unisex, it suits anyone who loves amber and vanilla done with restraint. In summer heat it grows considerably, so save it for the cooler months. A sample size is available on this page if you would like to see the glow on your own skin first.

Most dupes use synthetic ingredients. Cheaper. Easier. But they fade fast and smell a little off.

We do three things they don’t:

Source natural ingredients from France, Grasse (same as designer brands)

Formulate at 30% concentration (most dupes are 8–12%)

Let each fragrance macerate for weeks so the scent properly settles

That’s the difference.

We’re not cutting corners.

Fair question. Two reasons.

First, we’re not a legacy luxury brand. No celebrity contracts. No flagship stores. No inflated marketing budgets. We sell direct to you.

Second, we’re not buying finished perfume and slapping a label on it. We handle the sourcing, formulation, and maceration ourselves.

Same quality decisions.

No 800% luxury markup.

Orders are processed within 1–3 business days. Delivery within Australia typically takes 2–5 business days, depending on your location. Remote areas may take slightly longer.

We offer a 30-day return window on all orders. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it for a refund or exchange. Read More
