DESCRIPTION:
Inspired by Blue Talisman by Ex Nihilo, Heirloom opens with a sparkling rush of pear, citrus, and airy freshness, bright like polished glass. The fruit feels crisp and expensive, softened by musks and creamy woods that give the scent a clean, radiant finish. As it settles, the composition becomes smoother, more luminous, leaving a refined trail that feels modern, lucky, and almost jewel-like.

Top: Pear, Bergamot, Ginger, Mandarin

Middle: Orange Blossom, Georgywood

Base: Ambrofix, Akigalawood, Musk

Maceration is the quiet part of perfumery most brands skip. It’s the period after blending, where fragrance oils and alcohol are left to rest, bond, and mature - allowing the scent to fully develop its depth, balance, and longevity.

At Larcin, every batch is macerated for 3–4 weeks before it’s ever allowed to sell. No rushing. No shortcuts. This time is essential: harsh edges soften, notes settle into each other, and the fragrance becomes what it’s meant to be on skin.

Heirloom: Inspired by Blue Talisman by Ex Nihilo

Heirloom is Larcin's interpretation of Blue Talisman, the Ex Nihilo anniversary creation that shattered every cliche about blue fragrances. It follows the same luminous structure: pear, bergamot, ginger and mandarin in the opening, orange blossom and Georgywood through the heart, and Ambrofix, akigalawood and musk in the base. This guide covers the house, the fragrance's story, its futuristic freshness and how Heirloom compares.

Ex Nihilo: High Perfumery from Place Vendome

Ex Nihilo, Latin for out of nothing, is a Parisian house born in 2013 in the spirit of Place Vendome, the city's jewellery square. Built on innovation, cutting-edge molecules and in-store personalisation, the brand positions its fragrances as modern jewels, and its bottles, with their sculpted metallic plaques, look the part. Blue Talisman was created to celebrate the house's tenth anniversary.

The Story of Blue Talisman

Released in 2023 and composed by perfumer Jordi Fernandez, Blue Talisman was designed as a hypnotic jewel radiating what the house calls boundless spiritual energy. Fernandez built it around a bold technical idea: juicy pear balanced against a deliberate overdose of Ambrofix, a radiant amber molecule, framed by modern Givaudan captives Georgywood and akigalawood. The result is a blue fragrance that smells nothing like the genre's gym-locker cliches, and the market noticed: it became one of the most hyped fresh releases of its decade, a fixture on compliment-getter lists and frequently sold through at niche counters worldwide.

What Does Blue Talisman Smell Like?

The opening is crisp and juicy: sweet pear and candied mandarin brightened by bergamot, with a peppery flash of ginger cutting through the fruit and keeping everything lively. Orange blossom softens the heart with a clean white-floral glow while Georgywood adds a sleek, almost iridescent woodiness. The base is the engine: radiant Ambrofix amber, spicy-woody akigalawood and clean musks projecting a polished, futuristic freshness for hours. The whole effect is bright, urban and quietly luxurious, often described as the ultimate work-appropriate compliment machine.

The Longevity and Projection of Blue Talisman

Blue Talisman performs far beyond typical freshies, with eight to twelve hours on skin, excellent persistence on clothing and a diffusive trail through the opening hours before settling into a clean, warm aura. The Ambrofix base is what keeps it alive long after ordinary citrus scents have surrendered.

The Luxury Positioning of Blue Talisman

Blue Talisman retails around $510 for a 100ml bottle in Australia. The jewelled bottle, the Place Vendome story and the anniversary prestige all sit inside that number: this is freshness sold as fine jewellery, and priced like it.

Heirloom: A Faithful Blue Talisman Alternative

Heirloom carries the same jewel. Pear, bergamot, ginger and mandarin open juicy and sparkling, orange blossom and Georgywood polish the heart, and Ambrofix, akigalawood and musk radiate through the long, clean drydown. The character survives intact: modern, magnetic freshness with genuine staying power, the blue fragrance for people who outgrew blue fragrances. If Blue Talisman is the scent that stopped you at the counter, Heirloom passes it down without the inheritance tax.

When to Wear Heirloom

Heirloom is a genuine all-rounder: the office, dates, weekends, travel and every season, peaking in spring and summer light. It is fully unisex, impossible to overdress with, and an outstanding candidate for a daily signature scent. A sample size is available on this page if you would like to try the talisman on skin first.

Most dupes use synthetic ingredients. Cheaper. Easier. But they fade fast and smell a little off.

We do three things they don’t:

Source natural ingredients from France, Grasse (same as designer brands)

Formulate at 30% concentration (most dupes are 8–12%)

Let each fragrance macerate for weeks so the scent properly settles

That’s the difference.

We’re not cutting corners.

Fair question. Two reasons.

First, we’re not a legacy luxury brand. No celebrity contracts. No flagship stores. No inflated marketing budgets. We sell direct to you.

Second, we’re not buying finished perfume and slapping a label on it. We handle the sourcing, formulation, and maceration ourselves.

Same quality decisions.

No 800% luxury markup.

Orders are processed within 1–3 business days. Delivery within Australia typically takes 2–5 business days, depending on your location. Remote areas may take slightly longer.

We offer a 30-day return window on all orders. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it for a refund or exchange. Read More
